The Ford Escape comes with a few different engine options. The baseline engine is a 1.5-liter EcoBoost® engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with 181 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque. The fuel economy of this engine is an EPA-estimated 28 city/34 highway MPG.

The baseline engine also comes with auto start-stop technology that is able to reduce fuel consumption and emissions when you come to a full stop. The engine will shut off then turn back on when you step on the accelerator or when your foot leaves the brake.
