End-of-Lease Options

You'll want to schedule an inspection in the final few months of your lease. This is important because you'll want to have your car checked for any significant damage that should be taken care of before you return it to the dealership. While you don't have to have repairs done, it would be a good idea to do so, so you don't pay a penalty on the return.
Once you decide whether you want to have any damages repaired, you'll want to schedule an appointment with the dealership to discuss your lease-return options.
We'll review odometer readings, lease termination statements, and more at this appointment. If you return the lease, you must pay different charges as part of your agreement. These charges can include mileage overages, lease liability fees, etc.
There are a couple of things you can do before returning your lease. As you know, having any damages repaired would be a good idea. You'll also want to consider having the vehicle detailed inside and out. Ensure you have any items that came with the car, including spare keys, tires, etc., so they can be returned.
Additionally, remove all personal items from the car. Accessories you added over time should also be removed unless the vehicle would sustain damage if they're removed.
You have a few end-of-lease options. You can simply return the lease to the dealership or leasing company without jumping into another vehicle. If you do this, make sure you cancel any automatic payments. After you return the lease, keep a record of the return date and the contact at your dealership or leasing company.
